Dr. JOSIE NICHOLSON
Dr. Josie Nicholson is a Licensed Counseling Psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant with over 15 years’ experience in high-performance sport.
Dr. Nicholson founded Rebel Sport Psych, the sport psychology program at The University of Mississippi, and for more than 13 years helped Ole Miss student-athletes and coaches learn crucial mental skills, unlocking their potential and giving them a mental edge over their opponents.
During her time as the director of Rebel Sport Psych, the Rebels won two team NCAA Division I Championships in Women’s Golf (2021) and Baseball (2022), and 12 individual championships.
Throughout her career, Dr. Nicholson has worked with athletes from many sports and at every level from elite youth, professional, and Olympians.
Dr. Nicholson is a nationally recognized leader in applied sport psychology, and has served on executive boards of multiple national organizations, contributing to the advancement of sport psychology practice and education. A sought-after speaker, she has presented at national conferences, to organizations, as well as to collegiate sports teams, athletic departments, and coaching staffs, providing expert guidance on mental performance, resilience, and well-being.
A former student-athlete at Loyola University New Orleans, Dr. Nicholson got her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and is certified in EMDR and ADHD Clinical services and has extensive training in hypnosis.
Dr. Nicholson is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor and is listed on the USOPC Mental Health and Mental Performance registries.
